Three very special guests announced for Red Dwarf XII!

You should know by now that a new series of Red Dwarf means that there'll likely as not be some pretty great guest stars involved. So we're delighted to announce just three of the many excellent guest actors who'll be appearing in the upcoming Red Dwarf XII when it lands on Dave later in the year.
Say a big hello, then, to James Buckley, Johnny Vegas and Helen George, who will each be appearing in an episode of the upcoming twelfth series. James, of course, is best known for starring in the Channel 4 classic The Inbetweeners, and more recently has headlined fellow Dave show Zapped. And as the above picture shows, it's not just the main crew who'll be getting turned into droids this year, as James has had to go through the extensive makeup process as well.
"It was like a dream come true," said James of joining a show of which he's an enormous fan. "The way it was pitched to me was 'You'll be an alien or something, no one'll recognise you, it'll be really cool', so yeah, I liked the idea of that. And then the day before, I did a makeup test and they put the Kryten android stuff on me ... I nearly sh*t myself, it's so iconic!"
As for Johnny, he has of course been a fixture on our screens since the early 2000s, starring on the likes of Shooting Stars, Benidorm and Still Open All Hours before going on to a certain series of incredibly popular adverts alongside a stuffed monkey. He too is a Dwarf fan of many years' standing - and fans who were at the recording of his particular episode may recall that when introduced to the audience, he gave a heartfelt speech about how he'd always wanted to be in the show.
And finally, we welcome Helen George, one of the country's favourite actresses thanks to roles in shows such as Call the Midwife and a 2015 run on Strictly Come Dancing. This isn't actually the first time Helen has worked with writer/director Doug Naylor, as she also starred in his sitcom pilot Over to Bill back in 2014.
But if you want more detail about exactly what roles they're playing and how they fit into their episodes, beyond what you can see in these images? Well, of course, you're going to have to wait just a little bit longer...
