Flibble-O-Phonic The ever-intrepid penguin covers his ears and roams through the bowels of the BBC sound department in order to bring you an interview with the man who wants to make a T-Rex chirrup - Jem Whippey. |

How did you meet Ed Bye?
Ed and I met yonks ago in college in Bromley - Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, where we were both on a media course that was going on there. On the first day there I saw this guy and he was from Twickenham, and I'm from Twickenham. We got to be mates, and we roomed - we had like the smallest bed-sit in the world. We had these two 'cupboards' in an old Victorian house - they were called rooms. It was pathetic. He had a cupboard, I had a cupboard, and he had an endless supply of Cadbury's Smash that his mum supplied in big tins, so we just lived on that and no money. Cadbury's Smash and hot water - brilliant.
We said, 'Wouldn't it be funny if in a few years time we were actually working on something together.' And there you go - we do work together. Which can be kind of difficult with friends, working together - but so far this one has, touch wood, worked out. We haven't killed each other yet! (Laughs)
